The Joe and Freddie Memorial Match

Earlier this year, two 19 year old boys, Joe and Freddie, tragically lost their lives in a car accident in Bolivia. In their memory, Joe and Freddie’s family and friends have arranged a memorial match to help raise money for charity on Saturday 14th December.

You may have seen Freddie’s cousin, Robert, otherwise known as the Lean Student Chef, create a brilliant recipe e-book earlier this year to raise money for Football Beyond Borders in Freddie’s memory. Once again, the family and friends of Joe and Freddie have kindly chosen to donate all proceeds to Football Beyond Borders, and the amazing work of the Sam West Foundation, which promotes awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders in young people.

We will be taking a group of FBB participants to play a match against the Sam West Foundation to start the day. We encourage anyone who can to attend the event, in celebration of two talented, kind, loving, and football-obsessed young men who were tragically taken far too soon. Come along and watch as the Red team takes on the blues, in homage to Joe and Freddie’s beloved Liverpool F.C and Manchester City. You can enjoy the game with some food and drinks, courtesy of The Boating Station, The Community Pizza Oven, and Park Farm, who will be serving up pizzas, a hog roast, and a warm winter risotto. Not to mention plenty of mulled wine, beers, ales, and hot drinks.

There will be a raffle and an auction, with a staggering 27 raffle prizes and counting, including two tickets to El Dorado Festival. There is also a further nine incredible auction prizes, which include a five-night stay at a beautiful villa in the South of France, a signed England football shirt, or a coveted signed Sergio Aguero football boot.

By attending the memorial match, in memory of Joe and Freddie, you will be supporting Football Beyond Borders and our continued work towards transforming the lives of young people across the UK.
Even if you cannot make the event, you can show your support on the memorial match website, as well as bid on the auction, or buy raffle tickets.
