Join the FBB2020 Challenge and support our Virtual School

Due to the continuing global pandemic, we’re all facing tough challenges at the moment, especially young people. Over the past eleven weeks at FBB we’ve been inspired by the vast range of community led initiatives and amazing acts of kindness that have emerged to combat the obstacles presented by Covid-19.

To help make a difference to the lives of the young people we support, today we’re launching a bold new campaign to bring the whole FBB family together:

To collectively walk, run or cycle 20,000km from the 12th June to the 12th July, raising £20,000 along the way!

We’ve timed it to fill the gap left by the postponed Euro 2020 tournament. It would have been a brilliant tournament, but together we can harness the unique power of sport and pride to bring people together for a very important cause.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, it is estimated that young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are much more at risk of falling behind at school than their peers, with the Guardian recently reporting that "a decade of progress" to narrow the attainment gap between them and their classmates is now at risk. This is why we decided to act quickly by setting up the FBB Virtual School. There was no time to be lost if we wanted to make sure that our young people continued to receive our support.

Our aim is bold; we’re setting that big target of raising £20,000 to help support the delivery of the FBB Virtual School. The funds would super-charge the great work that’s got us this far, having reacted fast to adapt our delivery model over the last two months - we have so far held 642 one to one calls with young people, 897 parent calls and 198 virtual group sessions. The engagement has been brilliant from the participants and long may that continue. You can find out more about how the FBB Virtual School has progressed since its launch here

Our challenge is simple; each person does their little bit to support our campaign. You can donate through our JustGiving page or start your own with friends, colleagues or sports club by clicking the 'start fundraising' button on the right hand side. Join our club on the Strava App too (you can download the app free from the Apple Store or Play Store on your phone) so that we can calculate your distance covered - you can also link your activity to your JustGiving page so it's really easy to cover all bases.

Finally, you can download and information pack and social media graphics so that you can easily show your support and recruit friends, colleagues and family to support the campaign here

We'd love to have your support in whatever way you can, so please do consider getting involved, tell a friend to tell a friend, and let's Go Beyond together!

If you have any questions or if you prefer to send us the distance you cover via email, please contact us at FBB2020@footballbeyondborders.org
