LIFE Academy organises football fundraiser for FBB in North London

On Saturday the 20th of June, we were invited to participate in a football match organised by our North London friends, the LIFE (London Institute of Football Excellence) football academy. LIFE is a high-class training, development and inclusion program young professional and semi-professional players. Thanks to generous donations from players, coaches and supporters, LIFE managed to raise over £250 for FBB!

LIFE co-founder Owen Southgate explained the significance of the game: “LIFE vs Wingate U17 legends was a game that we’ve wanted to organise for some time. Before the LIFE Academy both me and Rich (the other LIFE co-founder)  managed and coached an incredibly talented Wingate and Finchley FC U17s to a five trophy haul during the 2012/13 season. This was a phenomenal group of players so inevitably the LIFE squad has always been compared to it! Two years later and with all the lads coming back from University we took the chance to organise the game and with our link to Football Beyond Borders used it to raise awareness and funds for such a great cause. It was also good to catch up with the Wingate lads. The game didn’t disappoint, played at a great tempo and in a naturally very competitive spirit – with neither team wanting to lose! It was also fantastic to have FBB represented by Jack and Sean, both playing throughout the game. What was most satisfying is that we managed to combine great football, a reunion and a good cause to create a top afternoon. We are already looking forward to the next time!”

For FBB it’s a real delight to be supported by LIFE – who have impressed us with their coaching methods and dedication to developing young players the right way. As FBB’s Head of Coaching Jack Badu explained: “It’s always great to find an organisation that does similar work to ourselves. Sean and I were welcomed with open arms and treated to a high quality game of football. I would like thank the LIFE boys again for donating so generously and I see this as the first of many collaborations with LIFE.”
