Helen Hayes, the MP for Dulwich and West Norwood has lent her support to the FBB Youth Leadership Team’s campaign for better football facilities in South London.
On Saturday she came down to Angell Town estate in Brixton to meet with the group of young campaigners and see for herself the poor state of the local football pitch.
FBB’s youth leaders presented the story of their campaign so far, including the 1,000+ signatures for their petition and productive meetings with representatives of Lambeth Council.
Ms Hayes was very impressed with their efforts and has given her backing to their demands for a renovated astroturf pitch that will benefit the whole community.
Helen Hayes MP said:
“It was so great to meet this morning with young people from Football Beyond Borders and hear about the campaign to get better football facilities on the Angell Town estate. I am delighted to support this campaign and wish Football Beyond Borders every success in getting the funding for the new pitch. I look forward to coming down and seeing local people playing on a brand new facility.”
