We worked together with Football Radar one of our strategic partners to deliver a 6 week programme designed to develop literacy, numeracy and public speaking skills through the medium of football.
8 groups of 3 young people and 1 Football Radar volunteer were given a different shortlisted Premier League player including the likes of Vardy, Mahrez and Kane. They then analyzed lots of player statistics, videos and experts’ opinions on their players. Over the 6 weeks they had to use all this information to create a presentation on why their assigned player deserved to win the Player of the Year award. The best 3 groups attended a grand final at Football Radar’s HQ where they presented their arguments in front of an expert panel and then faced some tough questions.
The winning group was a combination of students (pictured above) from Chestnut Grove and Archbishop Lanfranc – Mo Ali, Matthew Young and Joseph Seyidov – with Kevin De Bruyne controversially winning the player of the year award!
The event was a huge success all covered on #FBBTV! Watch the video below!
