FBB Schools: Dulwich Hamlet – Trip to Champion Hill

Dulwich Hamlet Football Club treated over 60 FBB Schools participants to free tickets for their 3-3 draw over Metropolitan Police FC on November 29th.

FBB are Dulwich Hamlet’s official charity partner for the 2016/17 season and students from 7 of our schools were rewarded for their commitment to the programme with tickets for the match.

FBB Schools: Dulwich Hamlet - Trip to Champion Hill 350At half-time a lucky few of our participants also received an extra reward for their hard work. Dulwich Hamlet granted them the privilege of walking onto the Champion Hill pitch to receive an FBB trophy.

FBB Schools participant Sienna (pictured right) from Archbishop Lanfranc Academy said “It was a fantastic trip and I would love to go again! I was very nervous getting my award but felt proud of myself”

FBB Youth Voices Lorenzo said “I’ve never been to watch a game outside of the top 5 European leagues and I can now confirm that I will be no longer attending those games. The atmosphere was amazing and it made me think about what football really is.”

Football Club Committee Chairman Liam Hickey said: “It was wonderful to see so many FBB youngsters enjoying themselves & making so much noise to keep warm on such a cold night. This evening showed just how a link with  a charity partner like ‘Football Beyond Borders’ means so much more than just raising a few pennies for their coffers.”

The Committee Community Initiatives spokesperson Mishi Morath added: “Nights like this make me envious and wistful. Hand on heart I wasn’t the best behaved kid when growing up, and I’m really jealous that these youngsters have something like FBB to guide them on their journey toward adulthood. Initiatives like this make all the boring hours put in by volunteers like me worthwhile.”
A huge thank you to Dulwich Hamlet FC for hosting us and Supreme Engraving for the trophies.

SAVE THE DATE! Remember we have a quiz at Dulwich Hamlet Football Club on Wednesday 7th Dec! Get involved – if you want to book a team! just email tperez@footballbeyondborders.org All proceeds to FBB’s youth work!
