FBB runs film-making workshop for Young Leaders

The FBB Youth Leadership Team’s campaign for better football facilities in South London is gathering momentum as they prepare to shoot a campaign film at Angell Town estate in Brixton.

The group of boys aged 15-21 meets for weekly campaign planning and skills development sessions, and this week they were joined by young FBB mentor and film-maker Bruk Abdu. Bruk led a film-making masterclass with the group, showing them techniques for composition and narrative that they can use when shooting their own film.

The group then split into pairs to design their own storyboards that will contribute to the final version of the film. On Monday the team is heading out into Brixton to shoot footage highlighting the dilapidated state of the Angell Town football pitch, and calling for renovations that will have long-lasting benefits for the local community.

Over the coming weeks they are also applying their musical talents to the campaign by recording a track at Samurai Sound studios, and they will be presenting their campaign to local councillors Matthew Parr and Rachel Heywood.
