Michael

“FBB has helped me in all sorts of ways such as being open-minded and listening to what other people have to say. In the classroom it has helped me to always try to do way above the minimum and exceed in my targets. I am not as selfish as I used to be on the pitch and make sure that everyone gets a touch of the ball. My teachers have a new image of me now because FBB helped me to be more attentive and work harder. Timi has helped me by having 1-1 conversations with me about my past week and how to improve it through setting targets. I enjoy learning from Timi because he’s been able to relate with me on many things. “

Which year group are you in?

9

How long have you been a part of FBB?

1 year

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Mysterious, great, and a dictator.

How would your teachers describe you in 3 words?

Driven, creative, and excellent.

What are your passions/hobbies?

Football - I first knew i loved football when I was 5 years old. In any weather, i would want to be outside on the pitch with the ball at my feet. I kept playing and got into trials for teams as I got older. I get to now show my passion for football in FBB sessions.

Dancing - When I was younger, my grandparents would take me to parties a lot. There would always be dancing competitions for prizes and money and i used to get involved with all of them. I’d say my style is more afrobeats and traditional dances that I've learnt from my family.

Public Speaking - I first knew I enjoyed public speaking at my Uncle’s wedding. I was nervous but really enjoyed speaking in front of my family and friends. It made me more confident in everything i do and helped me to become more of a leader within my class and among my friends.

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced before FBB?

Before FBB I found it challenging to be able to express my footballing nature because during lunchtime I couldn't play as much football and had to do other things. My behaviour wasn’t as good as it is now, because I was just thinking about football for the whole lesson instead of focussing on the subject. My relationship with my teachers wasn't the best, because I was never putting my hand up to answer questions and I was just doing the bare minimum. I wasn’t fulfilling my full potential.

How has FBB helped you to overcome those challenges?

FBB has helped me in all sorts of ways such as being open-minded and listening to what other people have to say.

What has been your favourite experience with FBB so far?

My favourite experience with FBB has been the Woodrow tour because I scored a goal that I never thought I could have scored. It was also great to meet other schools that do FBB. I learnt how lucky my group is because they don’t get as many opportunities as we do.

What do you hope to do in the future?

I hope to be a professional footballer when i grow up. If I can't be a footballer, I hope to become an entrepreneur.

Quote from FBB Project Lead

"Michael is a true leader, he has developed an increased sense on how to work effectively in a team. He is someone who can go a long way if he continues to think about new ways to develop and help the team."

Quote from your link teacher

"Michael has the ability to help those around him understand and gage topics, he has true leadership skills."
