Adam

“FBB helped me to understand what was right or wrong and helping me to take responsibility for my behaviour. Stefan would often have chats with me to help me to understand the consequences of your actions. FBB has helped me to develop my teamwork skills on the pitch. It has helped me to work closely with my teammates to win together in games. As a player, my skills have improved my ability to run with the ball and defend.”

Which year group are you in?

9

How long have you been a part of FBB?

1 year.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Strong, funny, talented.

How would your teachers describe you in 3 words?

Clown, smart, and nice.

What are your passions/hobbies?

Football
I got into loving football by watching it. I used to watch videos of Ronaldo playing football and doing his skills and I wanted to do it. I followed the steps he took and I used to read about what sorts of routines he had in the gym and the food he eats so i could do the same. I got to the stage where i was trialling for teams to try and make it as a footballer.

Biking
Since i was little i really liked bikes. I got my first bike at the age of 5 and I would make my own ramps out of wood and be riding and testing out my skills. Me and my friends would go exploring with our bikes and film us biking. I would get my phone and wrap it onto my bike so it could capture me doing tricks, then we got a GoPro and we now use that.

What are some of the challenges you’ve faced before FBB?

Before FBB, I found it difficult to prove myself in knowing that I can do things that people said I couldn't do. I was really bad in school before FBB. I used to get into fights, and i got into a lot of trouble with my teachers. I couldn’t show my intelligence because every teacher would think i was bad. They knew I could do well in school but i didn’t live up to my potential.

How has FBB helped you to overcome those challenges?

FBB helped me to understand what was right or wrong and helping me to take responsibility for my behaviour. Stefan would often have chats with me to help me to understand the consequences of your actions. FBB has helped me to develop my teamwork skills on the pitch. It has helped me to work closely with my teammates to win together in games. As a player, my skills have improved my ability to run with the ball and defend.

What has been your favourite experience with FBB so far?

FBB Woodrow Tour has been my favourite experience. We had lots of fun and there were good vibes everywhere. The football was also great and we loved the ghost stories Stefan and Harry told during tour. When we were playing football, I really enjoyed the coaching that Stefan gave us especially during half time. He made us believe that we could win every game in the team talk. We went on to finish 3rd which was higher than we thought we would get to. Even after we lost, Stefan made us feel good by telling us how well we played which i really rated.

What do you hope to do in the future?

In the future, I hope to go on more trips with FBB and stop getting more detentions. I don't know what I want to do when I grow up, but I know I want to get my grades up.

Quote from FBB Project Lead

Adam has undergone a massive transformation after his first year with FBB. He takes much more responsibility for his actions and strives to use his abundant energy, amazing sense of humour and intelligence for more positive ends. He has gone from getting into fights and constant detentions to being considered a leader in his year group and he is regularly described as 'exceptional' and 'an example to others' by his teachers.

Quote from your link teacher

Adam has really matured during his FBB journey. He has learnt to be aware of both his strengths and weaknesses and his desire to nurture his positive qualities has seen him grow into an exceptional young man.
