Beyond Business – FBB awarded grant for Social Enterprise

Football Beyond Borders have been awarded £17,000 in start up grants to support the creation of an FBB social enterprise, providing remarkable employment opportunities for the young people we work with – through the delivery of football academies and the creation of digital content made by young people, for young people.

Barcelona may have the most dangerous triple threat in the game right now, but FBB trio Jack Reynolds (Head of Operations), Jack Badu (Head of Coaching and FBB Academies) and Nick Connell (Head of Digital and FBB Productions) delivered a football business pitch for the Bromley By Bow’s Beyond Business Scheme that would have had even Lord Sugar applauding.

The scheme aims to create local wealth and sustainable jobs for people through the start up of new social enterprises, which are businesses trading for social and environmental purposes.

Our standalone business, Football Beyond Borders Trading (FBB Trading), will offer youth-focused, youth-designed and youth-led football related services to businesses and charities in London and beyond.

Jack Reynolds, Head of Operations at FBB, said: “I’m delighted that FBB were one of the winners of this year’s Beyond Business awards. It’s been fantastic to get their expert support throughout and we are excited about the job opportunities that this will create for our participants.”

The “Beyond Business” programme is regarded as one of the most dynamic and purposeful examples of harnessing local social entrepreneurs in the task of community regeneration.

Kim Hayman, who heads the programme for Bromley by Bow Centre, praised FBB’s pitch: “Sound business idea, fantastic social outcomes and wonderful energy from the two Jacks and Nick.”

The Social Enterprise will help support FBB's productions.

FBB Trading will build on the skills, contacts and branding associated with FBB to deliver high quality and competitively priced football coaching through our ‘Football For All’ Academies and digital media content through FBB Productions.

These two areas offer the possibility of generating fulfilling and sustainable employment for the young people with whom our charity works.

All this is made possible through FBB’s organisational reputation, skills and experience. Our strong network of schools, football clubs and partner charities enable us to offer such high quality services.
